Gramercy Happy Hour: Seven Windows From 2pm to 7pm

Fig. 1 — Gramercy Happy Hour: Seven Windows From 2pm to 7pm
Fig. 1Gramercy Happy Hour: Seven Windows From 2pm to 7pm
The short versionGramercy happy hour times from each bar's own site: seven windows from 2pm to 7pm, the days they run, and which apply only at the bar or the outdoor tables.

Gramercy happy hour runs from 2pm at the earliest to 7pm at the latest, mostly on weekdays, and most of it applies only at the bar. South to north, the seven windows published on the restaurants’ own sites are Tarallucci e Vino 3 to 6pm every day, Pete’s Tavern 4 to 6pm weekdays, ABC Cocina 4 to 5pm, Barbounia 3 to 7pm weekdays, Isabelle’s Osteria 2 to 6pm weekdays, Eataly’s AMALFI rooftop 3 to 6pm weekdays, and Il Fiorista 4 to 6pm every day. Tarallucci e Vino’s menu applies in the bar and outdoor area only, and Barbounia’s and Isabelle’s at the bar only.

The useful thing about an afternoon drinks menu is not the discount. It is the window. Most bars here bury the afternoon menu well away from the main menu page, the windows rarely overlap by more than an hour, and several apply only at the bar or the outdoor tables rather than at a dining table. Below are all seven, listed south to north from 18th Street.

Gramercy happy hour times at a glance

Bar Address Window Days Where it applies
Tarallucci e Vino 15 E 18th St 3–6pm Daily Bar and outdoor area only
Pete’s Tavern 129 E 18th St 4–6pm Mon–Fri Not stated
ABC Cocina 38 E 19th St 4–5pm Mon–Fri and Sun Not stated
Barbounia 250 Park Ave S 3–7pm Mon–Fri Bar only
Isabelle’s Osteria 245 Park Ave S 2–6pm Mon–Fri Bar only
Eataly, AMALFI rooftop 200 Fifth Ave 3–6pm Mon–Fri Rooftop
Il Fiorista 17 W 26th St 4–6pm Daily Not stated

Longest window: Barbounia, four hours, and the latest close on this list. Shortest: ABC Cocina, one hour. Of these seven, two run seven days: Tarallucci e Vino and Il Fiorista. Eataly’s La Piazza, covered in the Eataly paragraph below, also lists a daily window. Two of these sit on the same block of Park Avenue South and open an hour apart, which is worth knowing if your afternoon starts early.

Happy hour in Gramercy and the blocks just past it

East 18th Street

Tarallucci e Vino at 15 East 18th Street runs happy hour from 3pm to 6pm, listed as every day on its Happy Hour tab, and its site is specific, as of October 2026, that the menu applies in the bar and the outdoor area only. That distinction matters here more than at most places, because the outdoor seating a block above Union Square is the reason to come. The room opens at 8am on weekdays, so it is also the answer if your afternoon started as a late lunch.

Pete’s Tavern at 129 East 18th Street, on the corner of Irving Place, runs 4pm to 6pm Monday through Friday. The bar itself is open from noon to 2am seven days a week, which makes this the fallback when a window elsewhere has closed. The building has been trading since 1864 and the room looks it, which is either the appeal or the objection depending on your afternoon.

East 19th Street

ABC Cocina at 38 East 19th Street runs the tightest window on this list, 4pm to 5pm, Monday through Friday and Sunday. One hour is not much margin, so this is a plan rather than a drift. The bar itself runs 4pm to 10pm daily. Its sister restaurant abcV shares the address and does not publish a happy hour of its own.

Park Avenue South at 20th Street

Two options face each other on the same stretch of Park Avenue South, and they open an hour apart.

Barbounia at 250 Park Avenue South, on the corner of 20th, runs 3pm to 7pm Monday through Friday at the bar only. Four hours is the widest window in this guide and 7pm is the latest close, which makes it the practical choice when people are arriving from work at staggered times. The kitchen is Mediterranean rather than Italian, and the restaurant describes its own location as the heart of Gramercy.

Isabelle’s Osteria at 245 Park Avenue South, between 19th and 20th, opens its Aperitivo Hour at 2pm on weekdays and runs it to 6pm, at the bar rather than in the dining room. The 2pm start is the earliest on these blocks by an hour, which is the specific reason to know about it. It covers the stretch of the afternoon when nothing else nearby is serving a drinks menu, and it works as a landing spot between a lunch that ended early and a dinner that starts late.

What is on it is a short list rather than a token gesture. The small bites section runs to saffron arancini, a meatball, mortadella, spicy salmon tartare, ricotta toast, watermelon and feta, marinated beets, cheese focaccia and a poached shrimp gazpacho. There are two spritzes, passion fruit and strawberry, alongside five cocktails including a Fumo Negroni and one called Park Avenue Passion. The pricing is flat rather than item by item: small bites, spritzes, cocktails, wine and beer are each $5, as published in October 2026. Prices move, so explore Isabelle’s Aperitivo Hour on the restaurant’s own menu page before you plan an afternoon around it.

Best suited to an early arrival, a solo hour at a bar with something to eat, or a group assembling before a 7pm table elsewhere. Walk-ins take the bar on a first come, first served basis, so there is nothing to book.

Just past the neighborhood line

Eataly at 200 Fifth Avenue runs a happy hour on its AMALFI rooftop from 3pm to 6pm, Monday through Friday. It is about a twelve minute walk from Gramercy Park and the only rooftop option within reach, which on a warm afternoon is not a small consideration. Inside the same marketplace, Eataly’s own pages list a Happy Hour (Daily) from 3pm to 6pm at La Piazza and a Happy Hour (Monday–Friday) from 3pm to 6pm at Bar Milano; neither is counted among the seven windows here.

Il Fiorista at 17 West 26th Street, in NoMad, runs an Aperitivo Hour every day from 4pm to 6pm, with the bar open from 4pm until late and a further late-night window. Seven days is unusual on this list, where four of the other six windows are weekdays only. Among the seven windows, this is one of three that run on a Sunday, alongside Tarallucci e Vino and ABC Cocina.

Which Gramercy happy hours are bar only?

Six of the seven windows here apply at the bar, the counter or the outdoor tables, not at a dining table. If you sit down at a proper table and order from the regular menu, you are paying regular prices, and nobody will stop you or correct you. Ask for the afternoon menu by name when you arrive, and sit where it applies.

The other pattern is the gap. Between 6pm and 7pm, Barbounia is the only window on this list still open. If your group is assembling after 6, plan around that rather than hoping.

Where the afternoon leads

For what separates an Italian aperitivo from an American happy hour, and why the drinks are bitter, there is a fuller explanation of the difference between the two rituals. The same question plays out slightly differently a few blocks south, where after-work drinks near Union Square run on the commuter timetable. And if you are drifting west toward the park afterwards, this rundown of what is walkable from each corner of Madison Square Park picks up where this one stops.

Closer to home, if the discount matters less than finding a stool at 6pm, the guide to after-work drinks in Gramercy covers walk-in bar seating. These same blocks are also covered for dinner, restaurant by restaurant and for the weekday lunch hour, which is the narrowest window of the three. Walking north instead, the corridor up toward Flatiron adds another five blocks of options, and if the afternoon in question is a Sunday, what actually opens on a Sunday is the guide you want instead of this one.

Before you go

Afternoon menus change more often than dinner menus. The windows above were read from each restaurant’s own site in August 2026, and Tarallucci e Vino’s, Pete’s Tavern’s, Isabelle’s and Eataly’s were re-checked in October 2026. Prices and hours move. Check the current menu before you plan an afternoon around one.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get the happy hour menu if I sit at a table instead of the bar?

Usually not. Most of the menus in this guide say so explicitly on the restaurant’s own site: Tarallucci e Vino specifies its bar and outdoor area, and Barbounia and Isabelle’s both specify the bar. Ask when you walk in rather than after you have been seated, since a host can put you at the bar or a high top before the fact and cannot easily move you afterwards. If your group is too large for the bar, assume you are paying regular prices.

Is there a happy hour in Gramercy on the weekend?

Mostly not. Among the seven windows, Il Fiorista in NoMad (4pm to 6pm) and Tarallucci e Vino (3pm to 6pm, bar and outdoor area only) are the two that run every day, and ABC Cocina’s 4pm to 5pm window also runs on Sunday. Eataly’s La Piazza, covered separately above, also lists a daily happy hour from 3pm to 6pm. Pete’s Tavern, Barbounia and the Eataly rooftop list Monday through Friday only.

Which Gramercy happy hour runs latest?

Barbounia, at 250 Park Avenue South on the corner of 20th Street, runs 3pm to 7pm Monday through Friday at the bar. It is the only window on this list still open between 6pm and 7pm, so it is the one to plan around if your group cannot arrive before six.
