Flatiron District and Gramercy Park Restaurants: Eight Picks

The Flatiron District and Gramercy Park meet along Park Avenue South, and the restaurants worth planning around sit on the five blocks between East 18th and 23rd Street. Walking north, they run from Tarallucci e Vino at 15 East 18th Street, open from 8am on weekdays, past Union Square Cafe on East 19th, Rezdôra and Gramercy Tavern on East 20th, Barbounia on Park Avenue South and Cosme on East 21st, to Eataly NYC Flatiron at 200 Fifth Avenue, whose store is open daily until 11pm.

East of Park Avenue South the blocks are residential and the rooms are quieter. West toward Broadway and Fifth Avenue the sidewalk carries retail and office traffic, and the kitchens are built for that volume. What follows runs south to north, from East 18th Street up to 23rd, with each restaurant’s own published hours and the trains that put you at either end.

The southern end is served by the 14th Street Union Square station, where the 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, R and W all stop. The northern end has three separate 23rd Street stations: the 6 at Park Avenue South, the N, R and W at Broadway, and the F and M at Sixth Avenue. Nothing on this list is more than about ten minutes on foot from one of them.

Our selections prioritize four things. The restaurant sits inside the corridor between East 18th and 23rd Streets. It publishes its own hours, so you can plan around it instead of guessing. It is walkable from a named subway stop. And it covers a situation the others do not, whether that is an 8am start or a 9:30pm finish.

The order below is geographic, not preferential. No room here is presented as better than another, and the strongest fit for you is whichever one is open at the hour you are actually free.

Where to eat between Gramercy Park and the Flatiron District, walking north

Tarallucci e Vino, 15 East 18th Street

One block above Union Square. As of October 2026 the site lists Monday 8am to 9pm, Tuesday to Friday 8am to 10pm, Saturday 9am to 10pm and Sunday 11am to 9pm. The length of the day is the point. This is the one address in the corridor that will seat you at 8:15 in the morning and again at 8:45 at night, which makes it the default when a plan is still moving. Best suited to a solo hour with a laptop, an early meeting, or a late plate after something on Irving Place.

Union Square Cafe, 101 East 19th Street

Just east of Park Avenue South. Lunch runs Monday to Friday 11:30am to 2:30pm, brunch Saturday and Sunday 11am to 2:30pm, a midday service every day from 2:30pm to 5pm, and dinner every day 5pm to 10:30pm. That midday block is the useful oddity here. Most of the corridor goes dark between lunch and dinner and this room does not. Consider it when a 3pm meeting needs a table and a menu rather than a coffee counter.

Isabelle’s Osteria, 245 Park Avenue South

Between 19th and 20th, sitting on the seam itself. It earns a place on a corridor list because it is built for the corridor’s mixed traffic: a 150-seat room with a long bar, a private dining room, and an Aperitivo Hour at the bar Monday to Friday from 2pm to 6pm, with small bites, spritzers, cocktails, wine and beer each at $5. The 2pm start covers the exact dead stretch when the Flatiron side has stopped serving lunch and the Gramercy side has not started dinner. That makes it the strongest fit for a group arriving at staggered times after work, or for anyone who wants to eat something without committing to a full dinner.

It is a restaurant on Park Avenue South that posts its full lunch and dinner menus online, so you can read them before you book. Reservations open 30 days ahead on OpenTable and Resy for parties up to ten, and walk-ins take the bar first come, first served. The site does not publish daily opening and closing times, so call (212) 388-1145 if you are planning around a specific hour.

Rezdôra, 27 East 20th Street

Between Broadway and Park Avenue South. Published hours, unchanged as of October 2026, are Monday 5pm to 11pm, Tuesday to Friday noon to 2:30pm and 5pm to 11pm, and Saturday and Sunday 11:30am to 2:30pm and 5pm to 11pm. The kitchen cooks Emilia-Romagna, and the dinner tables are the hardest to get anywhere in this corridor. The midday service is the realistic way in. Best suited to a meal you planned two weeks ago.

Gramercy Tavern, 42 East 20th Street

A few doors east of Rezdôra. The restaurant runs two rooms on different rules. The Tavern, the walk-in front room, lists every day 11:30am to 11pm as of October 2026. The Dining Room’s hours page lists dinner, 5pm to 9:30pm Sunday to Thursday and 5pm to 10pm on Friday and Saturday. If you have not booked anything, the Tavern is the door. The strongest fit for an unplanned evening where you still want a real kitchen behind it.

Barbounia, 250 Park Avenue South

On the corner of 20th. As published in August 2026: lunch Monday to Friday 11:30am to 4pm, brunch Saturday and Sunday 10:30am to 4pm, dinner Tuesday and Wednesday 4:45pm to 11pm, Thursday to Saturday 4:45pm to 11:30pm, and Sunday and Monday 4:45pm to 10:30pm. The kitchen is Mediterranean rather than Italian, and the lunch service running to 4pm is the longest continuous midday window on this list. Consider it when a lunch has slipped by two hours.

Cosme, 35 East 21st Street

Sunday to Wednesday 5pm to 9:30pm, Thursday to Saturday 5pm to 10pm. Dinner only, no lunch service, and the 9:30 close early in the week is worth knowing if you eat late. Best suited to a booked dinner where the food is the event rather than the setting for one.

Eataly NYC Flatiron, 200 Fifth Avenue

Facing Madison Square Park. The store is open daily 7am to 11pm; the restaurants inside run 11am or noon to 10pm, with La Pizza & La Pasta to 10:30pm and Il Patio di Eataly to 9pm Sunday to Thursday and 9:30pm Friday and Saturday (Eataly’s restaurants page, October 2026). This is the north wall of the corridor and the fallback that is open longest, a market with counters rather than a single dining room, so it works better for a group that cannot agree than for a conversation you need to hear. The strongest fit for a solo lunch at an odd hour.

Which train puts you where

From the 14th Street Union Square station, everything on 18th and 19th Street is a five to seven minute walk northeast. The 6 at 23rd Street and Park Avenue South is the closest stop to the 20th and 21st Street addresses, about five minutes south on foot. For Eataly and the Fifth Avenue end, the N, R and W at 23rd Street and Broadway is the closest stop, and the F and M at 23rd and Sixth Avenue is one avenue farther west.

Walking the corridor end to end, from 15 East 18th Street to 200 Fifth Avenue, takes about fifteen minutes at a normal pace. Crossing it east to west is quicker than walking it north to south, which is why splitting an evening between two of these rooms is easier than it looks on a map.

If you are working out a whole evening rather than a single table, the same blocks are mapped for dinner, restaurant by restaurant and for a weekday lunch hour. The afternoon in between runs on its own timetable, and the drink windows on these blocks rarely overlap by more than an hour. Note too that four of the eight rooms above shift their hours at the weekend, which is why a Sunday in Gramercy needs its own list.

Where the corridor stops

North of 23rd Street the character changes again. Frequently asked questions

Where exactly does Gramercy end and Flatiron begin?

There is no official boundary, and the two names overlap in ordinary use along Park Avenue South. In practice, addresses east of Park Avenue South toward Gramercy Park and Irving Place read as Gramercy, and addresses west of it toward Broadway and Fifth Avenue read as Flatiron. Restaurants on Park Avenue South itself get described both ways, sometimes by the same restaurant on different pages of its own site. For planning, the cross street matters more than the label: East 20th Street is walkable from either subway line in under seven minutes.

Which restaurants in the Flatiron District are open latest?

Rezdôra and Gramercy Tavern’s front room list an 11pm close every day, and Eataly NYC Flatiron’s store is open until 11pm daily, though its restaurants close between 9pm and 10:30pm. Tarallucci e Vino closes at 10pm Tuesday through Saturday. Barbounia published the latest close in this corridor in August 2026, 11:30pm from Thursday to Saturday. Cosme stops at 9:30pm from Sunday to Wednesday, so check the night before you book a late table there.

Can I eat near Gramercy Park without a reservation?

Yes, if you pick the room for it. Gramercy Tavern’s front room is the walk-in side of that restaurant, Tarallucci e Vino serves from early morning to late evening, and Eataly is a market of counters rather than a single booked dining room. Rezdôra is the exception, since its dinner tables are the hardest to get in the corridor and its midday service is the realistic way in.
